Performance Strategies are a variety of mind-based tools derived from the applied sports and performance psychology fields. The purpose of them is to help performers enhance their experience on stage. Some techniques provide new ways of thinking, others include practice suggestions or ways to attend to physiological or emotional aspects of performing. Every performer experiences being on stage differently[...]
My specialty in performance psychology has met with some interest by radio hosts and publishers. So, I was excited to be interviewed by Adam Schwartz from Indiana Public Media and by pianist and radio host Virginia Eskin as part of her radio special on women in music. On this page you will find links to these interviews[...]
I am excited to share my knowledge about achieving optimal performance using mind-based tools right here on the site with my performance psychology podcast and through private sessions and workshops. I specialize in helping musicians, and I also consult with individuals who are striving for excellence in the performing arts, sports, business, and general public speaking.
With years of training as both a professional musician and a licensed psychologist, I have developed strategies to enhance practice effectiveness and time management, boost concentration, conquer performance anxiety and create an optimal performance profile.
On this site you will have access to some samples of performance-enhancing strategies that have worked for high-level athletes and musicians. You can also find out more about my personal background in music and in performance/sport psychology. I am adding a new podcast episode every week or two, so please check back frequently or subscribe to my podcast.
Please also read about the High Performance Program at the Brookline Community Mental Health Center, which I founded in 2010. You can contact me right here from the site to make suggestions, comments, or ask me about a personal consultation.
