Episode 1: Introduction
In this first broadcast, I am introducing the field of performance psychology and its mind-based techniques. Originally derived from the field of sports, these techniques or mental skills can help musicians overcome obstacles such as performance anxiety. In addition, many of these skills can be used to boost performances quality.
Musicians are well aware that physical preparation which we do by practicing our instruments is crucial for a good performance. Mental preparation is often overlooked but just as important. In this series of talks I will explain how to balance the psychological with the physical components for optimal preparedness.
